Leyla is the sweetest little girl who is learning what it means to be loved, something she never knew before.. She was deemed fearful in the shelter and considered not adoptable by the general public....If she was to survive this hard core shelter she had four days and had to be pulled by a non profit pre approved rescue. I went to see this little puppy girl...her body was chewed and torn, teeth marks visable on her face, legs and flanks, a skeletal shadow of a dog...She hid in the corner of her cage, cowering and shaking...the other dogs in the kennel with her paid her no attention. I can not imagine what type of cruelty she had endured to make her shut down in terror. I asked to have her brought into the greet and meet area and she crawled all the way there on her belly, head down and shaking like a leaf. She was so terrified that I finally sat down on the concrete floor, talking quietly, offering treats and coaxing her until this frail little pup crawled into my lap and layed her head on my chest....she just clung to me and I sat there holding the thin little body in my arms with tears running down my face..It was so emotional but this moment marked a new day and a new beginning for her. Leyla is in a temporary foster home and is adjusting so well...she is good with everyone, loves other dogs and shares a bed with her foster brother Jackson who was also a rescue dog. Jackson has helped bring her out of her shell, her confidence is showing and she is playing and happy. . Leyla needs a safe gentle home that will continue to give her lots of love and security. She is still a bit afraid of loud noises or if someone raise their voice at her she will back away. She was afraid to leave the fosters yard on the leash but that is also becoming a thing of the past....Leyla went to Petsmart today for the first time to pick out her treats and toys....she rode wonderfully in the car and enjoyed exploring the aisles of doggy goods. She even made friends with a little poodle named Mimi. We want Leyla to go to a home that will love her unconditionally and keep her safe......Her little heart is full of love and she gives back much more than she has ever received. She is under a year old and still needs some gentle training...she is crate trained and doing awsome with her house manners....but she still likes to chew a bit and will need toys and chew toys.
