About Lacy

This is the story of Lacy and Beau....they were abandoned at the top of the Cajon Pass in the freezing winter...Thank goodness for those thick coats because it was freezing temps and they burrowed in the snow to keep warm. There is a little coffee shop and these two orphans used their charming personalities and big pleading brown eyes to win a meal of scraps that waitresses eagerly provided to them....but after a couple of the months the Owner decided they had to go and instructed the girls to call Animal Control. Because it is such a rural area we went to work trying to rescue these companions. Beau was super friendly but Lacy was a bit shy but neither one wanted anything to do with getting into our car. It took our group well over a month to gain their trust( along with a couple big steak bones) and get them into a car for transport to the vet...Beau ( pictured with Lacy in the last picture) and Lacy were vetted, neutered /spayed and made current with their shots. We would love to keep them together and get them out of their kennel and on to a big property where they can run and exercise.. She is very loving, very protective and an excellent watchdog probably due to her Aussie SHepherd genes. Below is more info on the Aussie breed...Some Aussies have the red fur and the the Chesapeake or Choc Lab contributes to the the stunning color of velvety Chocolate colored fur. Lacys foster Mom has an 8 yr old boy and Lacy is fine with him. Because she is such a big dog and because of her high activity level and herding instincts we would prefer her not to go to a home with small children or small pets and a large yard would be a plus! Lacy would love to have a big yard to run and stretch and she walks like a pro on the leash and looks forward to her walks. Lacy is intelligent, alert, energetic and has such a sweet personality. This big girl is happy, loves to be near her humans and healthy as a horse....approximately 2-3 yrs old. She misses her friend Beau and would love to have a family of her own. We would like for her to have a loving home that would assure her that she will always be loved, taken care of and will never be dumped or abandoned again.. READ BELOW FOR MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THE AUSTRAILIAN SHEPHERDS TRAITS AND PERSONALITY: This is a pet who loves children, especially those whom they grow up with, and it can be wary and suspicious of strangers. Some love to chase small cats, and can tease other dogs of a different breed. It can also be aggressive and protective of their adopting family. They are good watchdogs as well. It instinctively herd other animals and even people by a nip and circle around them, hoping to herd them all together! These breed have two different sizes. The first size grows from 18 to 23 inches long, and can weight from 40 to 75 pounds. The second size is a miniature breed, as it grows from 14 to 18 inches high, and weighs 20 to 40 pounds! The miniature breed may come in smaller, but its physical traits, temperament, and personality are basically the same. An Australian Shepherd has its coat worn in straight or medium length. It can be a little wavy and straight. This coat is double as it protects it from the cold winter in Australia. The thickness of its coat can be challenging for maintaining it. The coat have different color varieties, it can be white and tan marking, blue merle, black, red merle, and pure red! The eyes are brown, blue, or blue brown.
