Honey has a tough story....her owners dumped her at a hardcore county shelter with 6 newborn puppies. Although Honey came in with a bum back leg, she never complained and took the best care possible of nursing and comforting her babies...even though she was in a terrible place. She didnt stress, even knowing that she and her babies were cold and her leg hurt her...and so she layed on the cold cement floor for week after week....until all her babies were adopted and she was all alone. I happened to be in the shelter the day that Honey's time was up....I could not believe this beautiful loving dog was being walked by shelter staff to the back room....her last walk. Thank God I was there that day and at that specific time to intercept her fate. We found out later that Honey was possibly hit by a car and had a broken hip the whole time she lay there nursing her babies. She must have been in excruciating pain.This dog is sweet as can be and you look at her picture you can see it in her eyes....kind of a calm wisdom radiates from her. Only she knows the story of her suffering and how she was spared in a fleeting moment. She is good with everyone around her, big and little dogs too. Have not had her with cats. SHe is now healthy and desperately needs out of boarding to be in a soft warm bed at night....to live the live that she was intended to live...She is so happy when I go to visit her and she just rests her head on me, gives me hugs and thanks me for helping her....you can just see the love in her eyes.
