Meet sweet little Bella, one of the severest cases of neglect I have run across. Her last picture shows what this litte one had to endure....she was downright miserable. Bella was so severely matted that the hair had grown over her eyes in a rock hard mass....her entire body was like this and it was pulling the skin right off her body....she had a difficult time just walking and was very quiet and low key. I was shocked when I first saw her condition and thought she weighed about 15 lbs. Another very kind rescuer and I worked on her for 2 1/2 half hours to painstakingly cut the fur off of her body using tiny scissors and cutting almost down to the skin. We we were done it looked like a 3 inch thick bearskin rug, filled with stickers. Well underneath that mass of hair little Bella was just a whisp of a pup, less than 8 lbs and she was just waiting to break free. SHe got a good scrubbing and was a new dog when she left the tub. I call her my little jumping bean because that haircut and bath put new life into this little girl. SHe is happy, bouncy, loves to hug and cuddle and is the best little lovable dog ever. She is two years old and looked like she had always been neglected. SHe is great with everybody and everything, is housetraining quickly using puppy pads but is very good about going outside. SHe is an absolute doll, mixed with Lhaso and Poodle. SHe still needs another trim but right now her fur is soft, fluffy and curly. I think she had so many painful knots on her that getting cleaned up gave her the opportunity to run, leap, dance and play.
